Despite its recent opening in Spring of 2017, Old Fields, a brand established in 1956, seems to have perfected the art of serving smoked, savory proteins like beef brisket, pulled pork, smoked chicken, ribs, pork sausage and pulled chicken.
Other Southern-style soul foods, including burgers, fried chicken and blackened Mahi, are also available.
As for side options, guests can take their pick from some classic homestyle selections like cornbread, coleslaw, red-skinned mashed potatoes, brisket chili, grilled broccoli, mac and cheese, mashed sweet potatoes, burnt ends baked beans, creamed spinach and more.
If you’d like to enjoy a cold beverage with your hearty and homestyle meal, worry not — Old Fields puts the “bar” in barbecue with its wide selection of draught beer, cocktails and wine. Happy hour food and drink specials, which include $2 mac rib sliders, $3 BBQ pork nachos and other deals, are available Monday through Friday from 4 to 6 p.m.
Finally, be sure to finish off your meal with one of the restaurant’s delectable desserts, like the classic peach cobbler.
Ultimately, Old Fields’ menu may be smaller and simpler than some, but it certainly packs a powerful (and flavorful) punch, judging by its near-perfect 4.9/5-star Facebook rating and 4.5/5-star Yelp rating. Satisfied guests aren’t holding back on sharing their dining experiences:
“Delicious food with a clean and comfortable atmosphere. Polite and helpful staff. I had brisket and ribs with two sides. So glad to have a BBQ restaurant in Huntington. Can't wait to go back!” wrote Mary S. in a Sept. 16 Yelp review.
Old Fields Barbecue is open Monday through Thursday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. For more information, visit the restaurant’s website, Facebook page and Instagram.
